The NL Wild Card game is tonight, and it is quite the matchup.
Madison Bumgarner and the Giants are headed to New York to take on Noah Syndergaard and the Mets.
Both starters have been among the very best in all of baseball this season, so it should be a pretty low scoring affair (that’s a sure-fire way to guarantee both teams score five runs by the third inning).
Of course unlike the AL Wild Card game last night (which ended in exciting fashion), tonight’s game has significant, immediate implications on the Chicago Cubs – the winner will head to Chicago this Friday to kick things off in the NLDS.
Luckily, neither of tonight’s starters will be able to go again until Game 3, so the Cubs should catch a break. Even still, I wouldn’t mind another extra-innings affair. And given the injuries in the Mets’ rotation, I think I’ll be pulling for a hometown victory tonight. In the meantime, feel free to game thread it up down there in the comments tonight, if you’re watching the game.
