With Jon Lester taking the ball in game one, the Cubs are going with the very lineup (plus a slight defensive twist) we’ve seen in nearly all of his starts for some time now. That is: Javy Baez in the infield, one of the infielders in the outfield (Ben Zobrist this time), and David Ross behind the plate.
The twist, of course, is that for many of Lester’s starts, the Cubs elected to start Baez at third base and Kris Bryant in left field, not Zobrist. So why the change? Well, it could be any number of reasons, but an interesting theory from Luis is that Baez is at second tonight to help prevent the running game (with his lightening fast tags). Could be.
We’ll have a full Pre-Gamin’ for you close to game time.
