Like a lot of folks – A LOT OF FOLKS – I plan on coming to Chicago this weekend to be there for the World Series, even as I don’t have tickets, and have no realistic prospects for getting them. I just want to be there. It’s special. We all understand that.
And a lot of folks ask me what exactly I’ll be doing, and if I have any tips. The answers are “I have no idea” and “nope.” I am softly anticipating being able to get near Wrigley Field at some points during the weekend, but when it comes time to watch the games, I am not assuming that will be possible.

The reality is that no one has the first foggiest dang idea of what to expect this weekend in Wrigleyville. We know that many of the bars are charging significant fees just to get in to watch the game, we know that the crowds last weekend for the end of the NLCS were already nuts, and we know that everyone is expecting this weekend to be even more extreme.
I think Murphy’s Bleachers, at the corner of Waveland and Sheffield, just across from Wrigley Field, summed it up very well:

To anyone and everyone who wants to be near Wrigley Field this weekend for the Cubs’ first World Series games there in 71 years, I can really only say this to you: good luck. There’s pretty much no chance we’ll see each other in the sea of blue.

Oh, and also, there won’t be any parking – even for residents – anywhere close to Wrigley:

Again, I say to you all: good luck. Go Cubs.
