THERE WILL BE A GAME SEVEN.
Yes, there was some unnecessary drama late in tonight’s game, and we’ll talk more about it tomorrow when we’re all feeling less FREAKING EXCITED BECAUSE THE CUBS JUST FORCED A GAME SEVEN OF THE WORLD FREAKING SERIES.

Unlike Game Three, the Cubs were putting good hacks on Josh Tomlin from the word go, knocking him out of the game before the third inning was over. Kris Bryant homered in the first inning, and the Cubs added two more runs on an Addison Russell bloop double (that either Indians outfielder could have caught, but there was miscommunication). Russell made sure his next shot required no communication at all, sending a grand slam way out of the ballpark in the third inning.
That was the scoring for the Cubs until a two-run shot for Anthony Rizzo late, which allowed the Cubs to take out Aroldis Chapman (eventually … again, we’ll talk about that later) before completing the 9th inning, after just 20 pitches.
Kris Bryant had a huge game, with four hits and a homer. Rizzo had three hits including his homer, too. Addison Russell drove in six. Good, good stuff.

Through the first three innings, Jake Arrieta wasn’t just sharp, he was peak 2015 Jake Arrieta. His velocity was huge, his movement was nasty, and his command was impeccable. He ran into a spot of trouble in the fourth inning, giving up some hard contact, hitting a batter, and walking another. A solid fifth, and a solid start to the sixth, though, and all in all, it was an effective night for Arrieta, who struck out 9 over his 5.2 innings.
Cubs win. Cubs win. Cubs win. One more in Cleveland. And I’m on my way to Chicago to watch the game there.
