Today is February 14, which means many things to many people. And, in other years, it would mean some of those things to me – how do I show the important people in my life that I love them? How many candy hearts and boxes of chocolate do I need to purchase? How do I fit into this oversized, novelty Cupid diaper?

But this year, with apologies to my loved ones, February 14 means only one thing to me:
CHICAGO CUBS PITCHERS AND CATCHERS REPORT TO SPRING TRAINING TODAY! THE 2017 BASEBALL SEASON IS OFFICIALLY UNDERWAY!
More than that, today begins the Cubs’ stay as the reigning world champions for the first time in 108 years. Every time the Cubs take the field, be it at Wrigley Field, another team’s ballpark, or just the back fields in Mesa, Arizona, they can be called the “reigning world champion Chicago Cubs.”
Now that’s a Valentine, baby.
