Spring Training Miscellany: More Heyward BP, Two Kawasakis, Mic’d-Up Coaches, More

Chicago Cubs

I’m headed to Montreal this weekend for a little vacation with some friends … of course, when I planned my trip I forgot that Saturday was the first day the Cubs will be playing actual, real-life, competitive baseball (well, sorta).

They have a split-squad day against the Giants (away) and the Athletics (at home), and I cannot wait to catch up on everything that happens.

But we still have two days before that bridge needs to be crossed, so let’s check back in some miscellany from Spring Training today.

  • And how about we kick things off with the three most beautiful things in the Cubs world:

  • Yeah, I said it.
  • And another of #Bryzzo at their company with a special guest:

2.0 coming soon, with a few friends and interns!

  • A little batting practice to get your mind off things:

  • And, in case you were wondering, it was yet another beautiful day out in Mesa:

  • You know this wouldn’t be a Spring Training Miscellany if there weren’t any videos of Jason Heyward taking cuts in batting practice:

  • And if you’re looking for a peek behind the curtain, first base coach Brandon Hyde was mic’d up today:

  • Tunnel leading to the park is looking fresh:

  • Are you ready to smile?

  • Muni! x2!

  • It might not exactly be Spring Training, but the Cubs did bring baseball to Chicago in February, so it feels worth sharing:

  • Some stray shots:

  • And if you missed the news, Joe Maddon revealed that Kyle Schwarber will be the Cubs leadoff man in 2017 … and then Brett made a funny:

  • The first Spring Training game is just two days away!!! Eeeek!
