115 days ago, the Chicago Cubs’ 2016 season ended in the most wonderful way possible.
It also ended as late as possible, making the wait until today as short as it could have been. Strip out the afterglow from the win, and I’d say it barely felt like 100 days to wait for Cubs baseball to return. I’ll take that for so many reasons, man.
Enjoy the fact that Cubs baseball is back, and more than that, enjoy the fact that the results of these games don’t matter. It’s something I think too few hardcore baseball fans appreciate – internally – about Spring Training games. It’s still baseball, which is awesome, but you don’t have to tie yourself up in knots about what happens. You can just kinda enjoy the fact that there’s baseball going on.

Hopefully the regulars stay healthy, the young guys get lots of experience, and the expected contributors look ready to go by the end of March.
The Cubs will play twice today at 2pm CT as they kick off their Cactus League slate. The lineups for the games against the A’s and the Giants are already out, but we’ll do the Pre-Gamin’ thing closer to game time. Mike Montgomery and Rob Zastryzny are the starters.
