In Spring Training, you just like there to be no surprises.
So, when the Cubs held out their front four starting pitchers – Jon Lester, Jake Arrieta, Kyle Hendricks, and John Lackey – from the first week of Cactus League games, it was nice to have known in advance that that was the plan.
And now we know that all four will be making their debuts in the coming days, entirely as expected and scheduled. Hooray!
The Cubs will send Hendricks out there for his Spring Training debut on Saturday, followed by Lester on Sunday, Arrieta on Monday, and Lackey on Tuesday. Brett Anderson will piggyback with Hendricks on Saturday, and Mike Montgomery is starting on Friday. (Sharma, Gonzales)

You can expect the regulars to get a couple innings apiece, unless they run into laborious innings. You can also expect to be reminded regularly that, for those four especially, the results are of virtually no interest to us. How do they feel? How do they look physically? How is their arm strength coming back and building up? And what are they working on? These are really the only questions that matter.
Still, I look forward to see them back in action, and ramping up for the season.
