The Chicago Cubs play two today, and it’s a bit more like a traditional double-header – one game is early, one game is late. The squads will still be split, though, as half the team heads out to play the Reds at 2pm CT, and the other half heads out to play the Diamondbacks at 8:10pm CT.
Here’s the Cubs’ lineup against the Reds (via Carrie Muskat):
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
Anthony Rizzo, 1B (Rizzo is dealing with a tight back, so Chris Dominguez takes his spot)- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Addison Russell, SS
- Willson Contreras, C
- Jon Jay, CF
- Eloy Jimenez, LF
- Ian Happ, DH

And here’s the Cubs’ lineup against the Diamondbacks:
- Kyle Schwarber, DH
- Albert Almora, CF
- Jeimer Candelario, 3B,
- Miguel Montero, C
- Matt Szczur, RF
- Chesny Young, 2B
- John Andreoli, LF
- Taylor Davis, 1B
- Munenori Kawasaki, SS
Ooh, how about that first lineup, eh? Regulars and prospects, as far as the eye can see. Meanwhile, in the second group, you’ve got expected leadoff man Kyle Schwarber heading up a group with some other youngsters, and a couple regular-ish players.
There’s a lot of playing time early here for guys like Szczur, Young, Davis, Andreoli and Kawasaki as they look to impress.
As usual, we’ll have your Pre-Gamin’ posts closer to game time.
