The Chicago Cubs host the Cincinnati Reds today at Sloan Park. Mike Montgomery will start this one, and the lineup features a guy who’s been out since the start of Cactus League play.
Here’s the Cubs’ lineup:
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Albert Almora Jr., CF
- Jon Jay, LF
- Javy Baez, SS
- Eloy Jimenez, DH
- Jeimer Candelario, 3B
- Tommy La Stella, 2B
- Chris Dominguez, 1B
- Carlos Corporan, C

Jason Heyward gets the leadoff shot again, and hopefully he gets a hit – not because it matters (only the swing, the quality of contact, and the health), but so that it doesn’t become a thing that people talk about. He’s 0-11 to start the Spring.
Tommy La Stella makes his debut after sitting out the first week with a tight hamstring. He’s trying to win a bench job on the big league team (TBD what happens if he doesn’t).
Anthony Rizzo is out again (back), though it’s still not any kind of reason for serious concern.
Nice to see Eloy Jimenez there in the middle of the lineup, and Jeimer Candelario has been seeing a lot of action, too.
The game is at 2pm CT, and we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time.
