I hope you have nothing to do this afternoon, because it’s time to kick back, pop in some earbuds, and watch some of your favorite Cubs talk baseball, prospects, repeating, their least-preferred desert island buddy (Kris Bryant), and much more.
MLB Network continued it’s 30 Clubs in 30 Days routine yesterday, and it was time for the Chicago Cubs’ spotlight.
Speaking with guys like Anthony Rizzo, Joe Maddon, Ian Happ, Kris Bryant, Kyle Schwarber, Jon Lester, John Lackey and others, MLB Network covered a range of topics both on and off the field. I’ve selected some of my favorite ones below, but you’ll have much more to dig into by the end of this post.

For example, might I suggest reminding yourself why you love Kyle Schwarber so darn much:

I absolutely lost it when he got to the leadoff question and said, “Exactly … we’re putting the speed at the top!” Oh, Schwarbs. Hit as many homers from the leadoff spot as you want.
Anthony Rizzo gets into his plate approach, including why he stands so on top of the plate:

“The best way to hit the curveball is to hit the fastball.”

But if you’re looking to keep it light, how about a couple of fun questions (and answers) from Jon Lester, Kris Bryant, and Schwarber including 1) Who eats the most after games?, 2) Who don’t you want to be stranded on a desert island with?, and 3) Who would make the best wrestling tag team partner?

And finally, kick back with Lester and see what he has to say about the mood in camp, the chances of repeating and much more:

As an aside, how absolutely, positively huge was it to bring in that guy two years ago? I know he gets plenty of credit for his work with the Cubs, but that’s become something of an under-the-radar A+ move by the front office.

You can check out MLB Network’s 30 Clubs in 30 Days page here – which includes the upcoming schedule, as well – but I’ve also linked some of the Cubs videos below.
Enjoy, and don’t sit to close to the screen!
