After losing to Team Italy (and some current teammates) on Tuesday, the Chicago Cubs took the day off yesterday, but are back at it today.
Indeed, the Mariners are rolling into Sloan Park, while Mike Montgomery takes the bump in front of a group full of regulars.
Here’s the Cubs lineup for this afternoon:
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Addison Russell, SS
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Willson Contreras, C
- Jon Jay, CF
- Matt Szczur, FH
Starting Pitcher: Mike Montgomery

Obviously, the Chicago Cubs won’t have a designated hitter when they open the regular season in St. Louis on April 2 (OMG IT’S SO CLOSE), but otherwise that looks very much like the “everyday” lineup you’ll see throughout the 2017 season.
With that said, I’m sure Albert Almora will get into the mix quite a bit, as will, of course, Javy Baez, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see that squad rolled out there as often as possible (and in that general order). Which, yeah, this team is gonna be great.
Jeimer Candelario, Eloy Jimenez, and Munenori Kawasaki (as well as a few others) could come off the bench in this one. And, as usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (2:05 CT).
