I have no illusions regarding the importance of a Spring Training home run, but I don’t think I enjoy them any less – especially when they come from someone like Kyle Schwarber.
After all, we were deprived of his slugging ways for almost all of 2016. And hey, it doesn’t hurt when it comes against the cross-town rivals:

What an absolute no-doubter.

Indeed, Kyle Schwarber just took a 1-1 pitch from Derek Holland way out to right field to give the Cubs the lead against the White Sox.
That homer – which came off a lefty (not insignificant) – was Schwarber’s second of the Spring and drove in Tommy La Stella and Jon Jay. He now has two singles, two triples, and two homers on the Spring. It also came from the leadoff spot, where he expects to hit for most of the year. We’ll have more on that half of the story later. For now, woohoo! Home runs!
What did that ball ever do to you, @kschwarb12? https://t.co/wSrnTmbETG #SpringTraining pic.twitter.com/GRbNTNSbPT
