If you were wondering why top Cubs prospect Eloy Jimenez was not playing today on a split squad day after several days of sitting out (I was), we have an answer:

Without more information, I don’t want to speculate, but obviously an awkward throw followed by five days of sitting out and then tests … doesn’t sound great.
Hopefully the tests reveal nothing significant, and Jimenez will just keep resting for now.
Jimenez, 20, was cut from big league camp yesterday, and projected to begin the season at High-A Myrtle Beach. He is a consensus top 25 prospect in baseball (frequently much higher), and is the Cubs’ consensus number one prospect.
UPDATE: Well, optimism is good:
To be clear regarding Jimenez: Cubs optimistic shoulder will require only rest to heal.
