And here we are – the final game of Spring Training. I actually can’t believe how quickly it’s gone by. Here’s to a long – but fun – regular season.
Indeed, tonight is the final game of the Cubs’ Spring and they’ll be handing the ball off to their nominal number five starter, Kyle Hendricks (a.k.a MLB’s 2016 ERA leader and NL Cy Young finalist).
He’s had a wonderfully successful spring and looks ready to dominate again in 2017. And by the way, if he does dominate once again, that’ll probably officially cement him among the game’s best starters.
We now know what his upside is – Cy Young award caliber pitcher – but it’ll be up to him to prove that he can consistently compete (to an extent, of course) at that level annually. I’m not sure I’d bet against him.
