Yesterday’s Cubs/Cardinals’ finale was postponed due to rain, but thankfully the second built-in off day of the week provided some cover (I never thought I’d be happy about two off-days in a week).
So, here we are trying once again.
Here’s the Cubs lineup against the Cardinals:
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Addison Russell, SS
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Miguel Montero, C
- John Lackey, P
- Jon Jay, CF

I just noticed that the Cubs are starting three former Cardinals – Jason Heyward, John Lackey, and Jon Jay – against St. Louis today. And to that end, I guess, the Cardinals are starting their former Cub, Dexter Fowler, in some sort of sick retaliation (I kid). Small league.
Miguel Montero and Jay are making their season debuts today, against a righty, Lance Lynn, who’s struggled with lefties throughout his career. In exchange, three defensively minded Cubs – Willson Contreras, Javy Baez, and Albert Almora – are on the bench.
As we’ve seen through Maddon’s first two years as the Cubs’ manager, you can never really expect one lineup for more than a day or two. Not when there’s this many toys to play with.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time!
