In each of their first three series of the year, the Cubs have lost one game, and one game only.
Well, in their fourth series, they’ve already banked that loss in Game One. So, I guess that means today and tomorrow are in the books!
The Cubs send out Jake Arrieta for his third start of the year, and, although his down velocity has received the bulk of the attention, it certainly hasn’t helped batters against him. Through two starts, it’s hard to argue with Arrieta’s results – not just the numbers, but how he’s looked out there. We’ll see if that, and/or the velocity questions, persist.

The Pirates counter with young righty Tyler Glasnow, long one of the best pitching prospects in baseball. The 23-year-old righty unquestionably has a great fastball and killer stuff, but he’s always issued so darn many walks throughout his professional career. If he’s in the zone, take your shot, but otherwise, here’s hoping the Cubs are exceptionally patient today.
Glasnow has made just one start so far this year, and it was a disastrous 1.2 inning outing, featuring five walks.
