Ian Happ and his league leading six homers has been dominating the headlines, but so far Jeimer Candelario has simply out hit his teammate. Both switch hitting infielders have played 12 games, and in those games Happ leads in homers (6 to 3), strikeouts (8 to 15), and steals (1 to 0).
They are tied in hits, at 14.
But a stunning 12 of Candelario’s hits have gone for extra bases, including seven doubles (1 for Happ) and two triples (none for Happ). That means Candelario is leading in total bases (34 to 33) and holds the better batting line (.326/.408/.791 to .286/.352/.673).

Sample sizes being what they are, though, which is too small to be meaningful, that entire comparison is pretty much just for fun.
And to point out that Candelario is also having a fantastic start to his season. If they both keep playing at this pace, and that will be tough to do, I have no idea which one the Cubs will name as player of the month for April.
