The Cubs have a chance to complete the sweep today in Cincinnati, and they’ll get to face 40-year-old Bronson Arroyo today in that quest.

Here’s the Cubs’ lineup taking on Arroyo:
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Addison Russell, SS
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Miguel Montero, C
- John Lackey, P
- Jon Jay, CF
Ben Zobrist is back in the lineup after a few days off for back issues. Otherwise, the Cubs load up on lefties to face Arroyo, who’s always had a pretty strong split in his career (lefties are generally good for 50 more points of wOBA).
Then again, it’s possible – after commendably coming all the way back from Tommy John surgery at his age – Arroyo might be equally done against all types of hitters. We’ll see if that shows up today.
Jon Jay and Miguel Montero get the spot starts, and the regular crew goes up top. It’s all small sample and match-up optimized stuff, but Jay currently sports a 136 wRC+ and Montero is up at 141. Keep on keepin’ on, gents.
As usual we’ll have a full Pre-Gamin’ for you closer to game time.
