After applying a good ole fashioned whoopin’ yesterday, the Chicago Cubs head back out to PNC today in a rematch against the Pirates. If they win again today, they’ll have secured their sixth series win (out of seven) to start the year.

Here’s the Cubs lineup:
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Addison Russell, SS
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Willson Contreras, C
- Kyle Hendricks, P
- Albert Almora, CF
As the title suggests, Albert Almora gets another start out in center, and in case you were wondering, he’s actually the team leader out there:
Innings in Center Field:
- Albert Almora: 74.0 innings
- Jason Heyward: 51.1 innings
- Jon Jay: 47.2 innings
Of course, Heyward also adds another 99.2 innings out in right field, so if you don’t feel like you’ve seen them both the same amount, you’re right – but let’s get back to Almora.
In addition to playing a pretty nifty center field, he’s still hitting quite well: .303/.378/.485. In fact, his 135 wRC+ would be second best on the Cubs if he had enough plate appearances to qualify.
And it’s not all smoke and mirrors either: His average exit velocity (90.1 MPH) has actually been second best on the Cubs since the start of the season – albeit in a fairly small sample. Still good to see him rocking it.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (6:05 CT).
