And here I thought the Miami Marlins sale story was at peak weirdness when President Trump’s advisor/son-in-law Jared Kushner was involved in buying the team at the same time outgoing owner Jeffrey Loria was up for the ambassadorship to France.
But nope. Let’s get really weird.

Today, Bloomberg reports that a group led by former New York Yankees star Derek Jeter and former Florida governor/presidential hopeful Jeb Bush has won the auction for the Miami Marlins. The purchase price is not yet known, and the deal would still have to be approved by 75% of the current MLB owners.
Bush’s brother, former president George W. Bush, was a minority owner in the Texas Rangers at one time, so perhaps they swapped stories on the keys to owning an MLB franchise. Jeter may also know some things about baseball, but I can’t be sure.
We’ll have more when the details of the sale come out.
