It was only two losses coming into this one, and yet it still feels like a monkey off the back to see the Cubs get the win.

Some things were still not great about this one, if you’re inclined to be negative: the Cubs went just 2 for 9 with runners in scoring position, and left seven on base. The Cubs once again found themselves in an early, multi-run hole.
But, on the brighter side, John Lackey limited the damage through six innings, the bullpen was nails, and the Cubs did a good job on the slugging side of things (which can make up for lack of RISP success).
Most importantly, it was a solid win for the Cubs against a good team (one that hasn’t lost a day game at home in a very long time, I might add). And check it out:
