The Cubs dropped a heartbreaker yesterday, but we wouldn’t have even been in a position to have our hearts broken if the Cubs’ bats had done a little more than a couple solo homers. Hopefully today’s crew can wring out some more production.

Here’s the Cubs’ lineup against the Yankees today:
- Ben Zobrist, RF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Addison Russell, SS
- Willson Contreras, C
- Albert Almora, Jr., CF
- Javy Baez, 2B
- Brett Anderson, P
- Jon Jay, LF
Ben Zobrist steps into the leadoff spot for a sitting Kyle Schwarber, something we came into the season thinking we’d see a lot more frequently.
The Yankees are throwing out lefty Jordan Montgomery, which probably has something to do with the Zobrist maneuver, as well as the overload of righties. The youngster doesn’t have much in the way of splits that I can discern in limited big league duty and in the minors, but we’ll see if the righties can do some damage.
As usual, we’ll have a full Pre-Gamin’ for you closer to game time (6:15pm CT). In the meantime, if you’re wondering why the site looks a little different, that’s because we’re tinkering to make some improvements.
