So, if the finals of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ are like the World Series of celebrity dancing competitions, then the Cleveland Indians have no shot in this thing.
Well, there are three couples left in the finals (Ross and his partner Lindsay Arnold, NFL running back Rashad Jennings (Emma Slater) and singer Normani Kordei (Valentin Chmerkovskiy)), so I guess there isn’t a perfect analogue for the Indians here anyway.
I still hope Ross goes deep off of Jennings in the final at bat of his dancing career.
All right. Enough of the hacky World Series metaphors. On with the dancing!
Ross and his partner danced twice last night, first to Frank Sinatra’s “You Make Me Feel So Young,” which isn’t quite Ross’s walk-up song (“Forever Young”), but it’s close enough to put a smile on my face:
Ross just has so much energy out there. It’s infectious.
The pair also danced a tango, which was set up by a really sweet package on Ross’s baseball background:
The tidbit about Ross being released by the Reds because he complained about playing time, which then gave him a reputation in the league for being a bad and selfish teammate? Wow. Can you even picture that being David Ross?
In the end, Ross and Arnold got the votes to stick around:

The choice was a controversial one among the judges:

But, hey, Cubs fans and grandpa fans alike can’t get enough of David Ross. The finals are next week, and the couples will be competing for the Mirror Ball trophy, which I can then only assume would be paraded to Wrigley Field, and held aloft by Ross in a pre-game ceremony.
Actually, I’m not even kidding about that one. If Ross wins this thing, he’ll almost certainly show off that trophy at Wrigley.
