I gotta write about Kyle Schwarber’s slump more often.
For the second time in as many posts about his troubles – and why it might be OK! – Schwarber followed that night with an absolute monster bomb.
Tonight’s installment came in the first inning off of Johnny Cueto, and I think it’s still going (via @Cubs):

There’s no need to move, Mr. Right Fielder. None at all. Heck, there was barely any reason for the people in the right field bleachers to move.
By the Statcast leaderboard, that homer – at 470 feet – is tied for the second longest in baseball this year, and is the longest of his career (earlier this year, he hit one 462 feet – that came after a write-up about his not-so-slumpy slump). It was sent out at 114.2 mph, which is also one of the hardest balls he’s ever hit. That was just great all around.
If you missed it earlier, we talked about Schwarber’s combo hard-luck-hard-performance start to the year, and about how good stuff could be coming soon.
