The Cubs failed to plate a run again yesterday, marking their second straight shutout. That’s, you know, not good.
Today, they have to try to break that streak against the best pitcher in the universe, Clayton Kershaw. That’s also, you know, not good.
Here’s the lineup that’ll try for the Cubs today:
- Javy Baez, 2B
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ian Happ, LF
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Willson Contreras, C
- Addison Russell, SS
- Albert Almora Jr., CF
- Jon Lester, P
Good luck, Javy.
Kershaw gets a lineup of mostly right-handed bats in this one, as Baez will start at second (Ben Zobrist is dealing with a wrist issue), Ian Happ moves to left field to sit the now-platooning Kyle Schwarber, and Albert Almora Jr. starts in center.
It won’t be easy to score runs in this one, but the Cubs need to shake loose from the funk of a two-game shutout streak.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (3:05 CT).
