On the heels of a 7-2 home stand (against bad teams), the Cubs put on their finest ‘Anchorman’ attire, headed out west to take on the very good Dodgers, and promptly got swept in three ugly, non-competitive games.
You couldn’t have scripted the series much worse for a Cubs team that finally looked to be turning the corner. Literally the only bright spot from the entire weekend was the fact that the team hit some home runs off of Clayton Kershaw. You can throw everything else in the trash.
At least now the Cubs head to San Diego to take on a very beatable Padres team. Anything short of a series win there is going to sting much worse than this sweep.
Have a good night, friends. Shake it off and come back fresh in the morning. Which is exactly what I hope the Cubs do.
