The Cubs were swept in Los Angeles, which suuuuuucks, but at least they get the soft place to fall this week in San Diego.
Here’s who’ll be out there against the Padres today:
- Ben Zobrist, RF
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Miguel Montero, C
- Jason Heyward, CF
- Javy Baez, 2B
- Addison Russell, SS
- Kyle Hendricks, P
On the heels of an ugly stretch we explored here this morning, Cubs youngster Ian Happ takes a seat today. Instead, the Cubs will get both Ben Zobrist and Javy Baez in there, with the latter starting at second base. It’s good to see Zobrist back after his wrist issue this weekend.
Against righty Jarred Cosart, Kyle Schwarber starts, though it’s worth pointing out that, until this season, Cosart was a pretty strong reverse split guy.
How about Miguel Montero up there as today’s “protection for Anthony Rizzo” guy? With the help of a .391 BABIP and spots being chosen carefully, Montero is hitting a very nice .323/.357/.492 on the season. Keep it up, Miggy.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (3:40 CT). In the meantime, check out this morning’s “IT’S OK TO FREAK OUT” Bullets, if you missed them.
