Enhanced Box Score: Padres 6, Cubs 2 – May 31, 2017
I am running out of ways to convey serious discontent with a layer of measured placidity. My calmness has eroded. I am being very un-dude.
For the second straight game against a Padres team that was built to lose, the Cubs did neither team any favors by doing absolutely nothing with runners on base, giving up lead-changing homers, and generally offering little in the way of hope.
Eddie Butler had some good stuff once again, but once again his command was wanting, leading to untimely walks and too much hard contact. At present, this is not a sustainable mix.
Offensively, the Cubs scored just two runs again, and it’s barely even worth noting how, because I am so very disappointed.
