The Chicago Cubs are currently on their longest winning streak of the season, with five straight against the Cardinals and Marlins.
A win tonight would also give them their second consecutive series sweep and just their third series sweep of the season.
Here’s the group trying to do it:
- Ian Happ, CF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Willson Contreras, C
- Javy Baez, SS
- John Lackey, P
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
Ian Happ returns to the leadoff spot after sitting the last couple games for match-up reasons. He homered twice in his last start, so maybe he’ll double up and go for a Scooter Gennett tonight.
Kyle Schwarber is back in there against righty Jose Urena, who has actually been extremely tough on lefties this year (.185/.275/.259), while getting blown up by fellow righties (.311/.386/.618). It’s not much in the way of a sample size either way. For his career, he has been more split neutral.
Addison Russell rotates out at shortstop in favor of Javy Baez, and Ben Zobrist will take second.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (7:05 CT).
