The Chicago Cubs will try to start a new winning streak tonight, and get on their way to winning another series, this time against the Colorado Rockies.
Here’s the group trying to get things rolling:
- Ian Happ, CF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Willson Contreras, C
- Javy Baez, SS
- Jon Lester, P
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
Look familiar?
That’s last night’s lineup through and through, with the only change being the last name (and the H) of the pitcher. The group played well enough offensively to win last night, so it’s fine by me.
The big question for the lineup, uncomfortably and obviously, was whether Addison Russell would start at shortstop after sitting out last night’s game, and then the overnight allegations being investigated by MLB. Whatever the status or process or outcome there, it does seem to be a good idea to let him sit tonight.
I’ll be at this one, although not in the bleachers. Looking forward to seeing the offense continue to trend up.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (7:05 CT).
