The Cubs got their road trip off to a roaring start last night against the Marlins. Hopefully, the offense keeps cranking away and John Lackey has himself a good night.
Here’s the group getting after it tonight for the Cubs:
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Ian Happ, RF
- Addison Russell, SS
- Miguel Montero, C
- Javy Baez, 2B
- Albert Almora Jr., CF
- John Lackey, P
- Jon Jay, LF
With all three of Kyle Schwarber (Triple-A), Ben Zobrist (DL), and Jason Heyward (DL) still away from the team for various reasons, the Cubs’ outfield is once again a mash-up of the remaining players on the roster.
But unlike last night, Jon Jay is the third outfielder hitting the field, in place of the rookie, Mark Zagunis. In addition to Jay, the Cubs will run three other lefties out there tonight, in the form of a surging Ian Happ, leadoff man Anthony Rizzo, and cacher Miguel Montero. The opposing starter, Jose Urena, has been pretty split neutral for his career, so there’s not much of an advantage going with a lefty versus a righty, but the Cubs lineup has a nice balance, nonetheless.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (6:10pm CT).
