“We are back … to being inconsistent.”
After putting a whoopin’ on the Marlins just last night, the Cubs’ bats fell utterly silent in this one, unable to get almost anything going before two outs, failing to come through in those instances, and grounding into double plays when they tried to make something happen earlier in the inning. A low strike zone had a lot to do with the lack of offense for both sides, but it was mostly consistent. Just a bad offensive night all around.
John Lackey was solid once again, and Justin Grimm continues to tear it up, if you’re looking for a silver lining.
Which I am not. I would rather be annoyed. Which I am.
