All Cubs Leadoff Hitters Are Unstoppable: Leadoff Homer for Willson Contreras (VIDEO)
If only the leadoff hitter voodoo magic had kicked in before Kyle Schwarber was bounced from the leadoff spot, eh? Or was his abdication the source of the mysterious power?
In any case, thanks to the matchup tonight, Joe Maddon switched up his leadoff hitter again, inserting Willson Contreras into the spot (how many catchers have lead off in the last few years?).
So, naturally, Willson did what Cubs leadoff hitters do these days: rip a dinger.
It was a pulled no-doubter that Contreras thoroughly enjoyed (via @MLBNetwork):

The homer was Contreras’s 8th of the year, and it was way gone:

That was also something of a historic homer in the history of the Chicago Cubs organization:

Hopefully that set the table for a good game from the Cubs’ bats. Given Eddie Butler’s up-and-down start to his Cubs career, and given the Nationals’ potent bats, the Cubs will probably need a lot more.
