Individual games always seem so secondary on nights like this, when a player – a significant player, in this case – leaves with an injury.
If you missed it, Kris Bryant rolled his ankle on third base, and had to be helped off the field. When we know more about the extent of the injury, we’ll share it. For now, all we know is that he looked like he was in significant pain.
As for the game, the Nationals scored six times in the first three innings, and John Lackey gave up his obligatory two homers. He later allowed a third for good measure.
Even if Bryant’s injury does not put him out for a lengthy period of time, tonight’s game would have left you as concerned about the rotation as ever.
We can get more into the particulars of this one tomorrow. For now, I’m just feeling dumpy and emo.
