To start the year, Kris Bryant went ten straight games without hitting a home run. In his eleventh game, he hit two.
Immediately after that, he went on another ten straight games without sending a ball over the outfield fence, but in his eleventh game he sent one out.
Entering today, Bryant had gone a season high eleven straight contests without crushing a dinger. And during that stretch, he’s hit just .243/.378/.351 (96 wRC+).
But you knew it wasn’t going to last, right?

That blast was Kris Bryant’s 17th homer of the season and third hit of the day. Paired with his triple and single, Bryant is just a double shy of the cycle, and has raised his wRC+ by five full points here at the beginning of July. That’s not easy to do this far into the season.
According to Statcast, that ball was hit 427 feet and left the bat at 111 MPH. It also had Bryant’s patented moonshot height: 105 feet. What a great day at the plate.
Let’s see if the Cubs can close this one out.
