Jake Arrieta more or less cruised through five innings tonight, looking mighty sharp in the process. And then the sixth inning happened, and bang-bang-bang the hard contact got to him, and the Pirates put up three runs to take the lead. Four of the last six balls in play against Arrieta were hit at over 100 mph.
Offensively, the Cubs got those lovely back-to-back homers from Ian Happ and Kyle Schwarber, and … well, nothing else.
