On the day of the All-Star Game, even most minor league teams take a day off. Most teams. Not all.

And in the Cubs’ system, that meant Tennessee, and only Tennessee, were on the diamond yesterday. Fortunately, they won!

Unfortunately, this is going to be a really short Daily.

Triple A: Iowa Cubs

Iowa had the day off.

Double A: Tennessee Smokies
Tennessee 8, Montgomery 4
On a day with a lot of offense, the Smokies’ bullpen held up pretty well.

Duane Underwood: 5.1 IP, 3 R, 5 H, 3 BB, 6 K

Craig Brooks: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 3 K

Steve Perakslis: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K

Daury Torrez: 1 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 2 K

Trey Martin: 3 for 6, SB

Jason Vosler: 3 for 5

Carlos Penalver: 3 for 4, BB

Kevin Cornelius: 4 for 5, 2B, 2 HR

Erick Castillo: 1 for 2, 3 BB

High A: Myrtle Beach Pelicans

Myrtle Beach had the day off.

Low A: South Bend Cubs

South Bend had the day off.

Short Season A: Eugene Emeralds

Eugene had the day off.

Rookie: AZL Cubs

Arizona had the day off.

Other Notes

We have an All-Star Game today as well. The Triple A All Star Game featuring the Pacific Coast League versus the International League starts at 8:05 PM tonight. Pitchers Seth Frankoff and Matt Carasiti were selected for the game, as well as catcher Victor Caratini (but he’s with the big league team).
