Two things to talk about today for the BN Blogathon for Make-A-Wish …
The Cubs got an early jump on trade season madness with yesterday’s huge deal, but that doesn’t mean the rumors or moves are over – even Jed Hoyer conceded that there are still moves to be considered this year for the Cubs, and of course, there are the other deals around the league with direct implications for the Cubs’ second half run.
So the Trade Deadline Blogathon is still gonna be great, my friends!
But right now, it’s gonna be short! I have offered to blog here at BN and on social media at the July 31 Trade Deadline for 24 straight hours, but if you fine folks donate more than $6,000 to Make-A-Wish, I’ll bump that up 10 hours to 34 straight hours. And from there, I’ll tack on another hour for every $1,000 we can raise – up to 40 hours straight. Don’t you want to see me go crazy on July 30 and 31 for 40 straight hours?
We’re getting close to $3,500, so more than halfway to that first goal. Thank you all very much, and let’s keep going!
Donate to Make-A-Wish here! – just click on “donate to this fundraiser”. It all goes straight to Make-A-Wish in service of their mission to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
And how about this! An in-person event for the Blogathon!
Got plans on July 27? How about spending it at Wrigleyville’s oldest bar? With me! Serving you drinks!
That’s right: on Thursday, July 27, as the Cubs play the White Sox on the South Side, I’ll be guest bartending with my good friend Jim at Nisei Lounge from 7pm to 9pm CT, raising tips for the Blogathon in support of Make-A-Wish!
So make a night of it: come to Nisei at 3439 N. Sheffield Ave. (just south of Wrigley Field), watch the Cubs beat up on the White Sox, and have some poorly-prepared drinks served to you by me!
