Pre-Gamin’: Cubs at Braves (11:10 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

A win this afternoon would give the Chicago Cubs their longest winning streak of the season, and, at four games over, they’d also tie their greatest distance from .500 of the year.

Of course, much of that relies upon Mike Montgomery, who is making what is probably his final start for a while, as John Lackey and Kyle Hendricks have returned to – and filled up – the rotation.

It’s been a weird road for Montgomery, whose first five starts featured a 3.58 ERA and 3.38 FIP, as he’s absolutely fallen apart over his last three appearances (which includes 3.0 innings of relief): 12.10 ERA, 6.96 FIP. Hopefully, today’s start goes more like the first five and the Cubs keep the good times rolling.

The Cubs are getting the 42-year-old knuckleballer R.A. Dickey today, though he has not been able to replicate the results from that Cy Young 2012 campaign in any season since. To be fair, Dickey’s 4.08 ERA is well below (better than) the league average (4.33) and he’s getting WAY more soft contact (24.5%) than the league is (18.9%).
