The Chicago Cubs have won a season-high six games in a row, which is swell.
Here’s the group who’ll try to make it seven:
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Willson Contreras, C
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Ian Happ, CF
- Addison Russell, SS
- Javy Baez, 3B
- Jake Arrieta, P
Kris Bryant isn’t in the starting lineup after injuring his pinky on a head-first slide in Wednesday’s win against the Braves. Hopefully he’ll be back soon. In his place is Baez, who is 10-for-20 with two homers and two doubles since the All-Star Break. Stay hot, Javy.
Jason Heyward leads off for the first time in 2017, as the Cubs continue to experiment with a variety of leadoff hitters. He is 7-for-20 (.350 avg.) lifetime against Cardinals starter Carlos Martinez, and is 9-for-21 (.429) with a double, triple, and home run in the second half. Keep up the good work.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (1:20 CT). In the meantime, make sure you check out this morning’s Bullets, complete with a Cubs hype video about this series against the Cardinals.
