I am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, and on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves) – for 40 hours straight, until a little past MLB’s July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, news, Pre-Gamin’, EBS, etc.), as well as a significant uptick in rumor/trade posts.

News and Rumors Since the Last Check-In:
There was no last check-in, but this morning there’s word that the Yankees may be out in front on a Sonny Gray trade, and he won’t be making his start today.
Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:
Again, you’d have to with the Gray market shaking out. For the same reason Jose Quintana made perfect sense for the Cubs, Gray makes perfect sense for the Yankees. They will have spots to fill in their rotation after the season, could use him for the stretch run, and his cost control could allow them to be more aggressive in other areas of the roster going forward.
Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:
Getting Quintana when the Cubs did was obviously a stroke of both genius and good luck. A back-up catcher is coming, and probably a bullpen arm, too. Anything else would be gravy, and only if it presents a can’t-say-no opportunity for the Cubs.
Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:
I brought my cold brew coffee maker to Chicago with me, so I’m having some homemade iced coffee.
Where I’m Writing:
At our condo in Chicago, aka home away from home.
Strangest Thought Passing Through My Mind:
I’m so tired. Not from the first four hours, mind you, because that would be SERIOUS trouble. I’m, like, regular tired. Didn’t get a lot of sleep last night, and it was erratic – like a kid on Christmas morning.

It's way too early in the #BNBlogathon for me to accidentally eat food that expired in October. Whoops.
