Enhanced Box Score: Cubs 4, Brewers 2 – July 30, 2017

Gotta love when the Cubs win during the Blogathon. Brightens my spirits, and gives me a little extra boost heading into the evening.

That’s two of three from Milwaukee, too, which is especially nice. The Cubs now lead the NL Central by 2.5 games, and how about this:

John Lackey pitched really well from where I sat, with a nice slider that was generating swings and misses. His command was solid, and the two runs he gave up came on a home run that went 344 feet and had a mere 41% hit probability, bouncing off the top of the right field wall – that is to say, the ball was far from crushed.

Offensively, the Cubs were a couple inches away from scoring a lot more runs in this one, but they strung together four consecutive hits in the 6th inning to score two, and then Victor Caratini and Kris Bryant later added solo homers that were the difference.

That Caratini homer was crushed, and it was the first of his career. Pretty great one to get, as it counts as the game-winning shot. Well done, young man. This drink’s for you:
