#RallyKitten Runs onto the Field in St. Louis Before Molina Game-Winning Grand Slam, Because Life is Terrible

You know that feeling when something funny or cool happens, but you’re in a really bad mood so you veil your smile behind a grimace? Or maybe you pretend like you didn’t see whatever happened, or maybe even pretend like whatever happened wasn’t that cool?

Yeah, well, that’s where I am right now.

Although this is an all-MLB-Teams-welcomed website whose sole purpose is to highlight and broadcast the best, funniest, and most outrageous moments in baseball … there is one team that’s slightly less welcome than the rest: the St. Louis Cardinals.

So you’ll have to forgive me if, as a Cubs fan who’s watched their first-place team lose three straight series at the same time the second-place Cardinals have won five straight games, I’m not totally fair and unbiased with whatever follows next.

But if you’re wondering why I’m writing this up at all then, it’s because – sigh – the Cardinals did something that was both adorable, hilarious, badass, and all around awesome last night and you probably need to know about it. Let me take you there.

With their (then) four-game winning streak on the line, the Cardinals found themselves in a 5-4 hole with two outs in the sixth inning. But, on the positive side, they managed to load the bases with their hero and fan-favorite Yadier Molina at the plate.

And then, out of nowhere, a tiny, cute little kitten ran onto and around the field, delaying the game ever so slightly, setting up Yadier Molina for this:

That grounds crewman is probably like “Yeah … I’ll call that cat adorable right after I get some rabies shots.”

Here’s another look at the cat:

In any case. Yes. Yadier Molina immediately followed up the kitten-drama with a GRAND SLAM on the very next pitch, giving the Cardinals an 8-5 lead that would hold up for the rest of the game and extend their winning streak to 5. They are now just 1.5 games behind the Cubs.

Stupid #RallyKitten.

Oh, and sources tell me that it may have all been an inside job.

Just take a look at this evidence:

Pssh. Cheaters. Mice-chasers. Whatever.
