The Chicago Cubs have lost all three of their August series this month, and each was decided by the final game.
They have a fourth rubber match today, and here’s the lineup for that contest:
- Jon Jay, CF
- Tommy La Stella, 2B
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Victor Caratini, C
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Javy Baez, SS
- Jake Arrieta, P
Oh, hi there Tommy La Stella. I almost forgot about you.
Indeed, the Cubs are going with a relatively irregular lineup for today’s get-away game, featuring Jon Jay in center field and leading off, Tommy La Stella playing second base and batting second, and Victor Caratini behind the plate (which makes sense, giving the day game following a night game for starting catcher Alex Avila) and batting fifth.
That means that Bryzzo has been pushed back to 3/4, while Kyle Schwarber and Jason Heyward hit 6/7. With Addison Russell still out (though he could return as soon as tomorrow), Javy Baez remains at shortstop against a tough righty, Zack Godley (.257 wOBA v. righties).
Jake Arrieta is on the mound, and, as usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (3:10 CT).
Also, sale going on:
I swear I'm not trying to bleed you dry, but they keep having good, short-term sales to tell you about. Fanatics: https://t.co/HLZvpiHQKU pic.twitter.com/m72a9vsCxf
