#PlayersWeekend is finally here, and in that spirit, we’ll do this post with nicknames only.
Here’s the Cubs group for tonight’s opener against the Phillies:
- Zorilla, 2B
- Schwarbs, LF
- KB, 3B
- Tony, 1B
- Happer, CF
- Parkman, C
- J-Hey, RF
- El Mago, SS
- Q, P
So it’s Zorilla leading off today against the righty Eick. Eick’s actually had pretty serious splits against lefties this season, while Zorilla is slashing .263/.341/.375 against lefties here in the second half. That’s still below average overall, but it’s certainly better than his season numbers.
Following Zorillia is Schwarbs in the two-hole – once again – and KB/Tony hitting 3/4. I’m glad to see KB stick in the lineup after returning yesterday. Hopefully, that hand injury is in the rear-view mirror. Happer is batting fifth, and then we get to Parkman.
Do you know which catcher Parkman is? I’ll give you a hint: he wasn’t with the Cubs in the first half (devilish smile). If you still don’t know, here’s your nickname cheat-sheet. The bottom of the order is comprised of J-Hey, El Mago, and Q, each of whom I think you can figure.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to Game Time (6:05 CT). Bonus, OMG:
