Last night, for the first time since May 25, Oscar De La Cruz took the mound for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. He pitched just three innings, was limited to forty pitches and struck out only one.
But that’s not the important part. The important part is that one of the Cubs best prospects (number two on the Top 40, in fact) is back on the mound. We’ll take a closer look at his results once he has a few more starts behind him. For now, let’s just sit back and (hopefully) watch his pitch counts climb.
In other Myrtle Beach news, the Pelicans’ manager Buddy Bailey has become the eleventh manager in minor league history to reach 2,000 wins. That’s impressive.
