Your breathless Jake Arrieta hamstring update …
Yesterday, Arrieta left the Cubs’ game against the Pirates after his right hamstring tightened up on him. Uncertain whether it was a bad cramp or something more serious, the plan was for Arrieta to get treatment last night, and then possibly get an MRI today to see what was going on in there.
He’s getting the MRI this afternoon:
Jake Arrieta went to get an MRI. Didn't feel any worse in the AM, but just wanted to rule out any issues.

One reason for the delay was so they could get a more accurate read after any swelling subsided

MRI is not a signal that Jake Arrieta felt worse this morning, but it should help #Cubs determine next steps.

So, then, the “bad” news, such as it is, is that Arrieta didn’t wake up feeling like he could throw 100 pitches right there on the spot. The good news is that he didn’t wake up in brutal pain, after the treatments and endorphins all wore off, and certain that he’d torn that bad boy.
So now we await the results of the MRI. More lip biting, more napkin tearing, more sleepless nights …
