The Emeralds lost Game Three of their best of five series to Vancouver 2-1, and they now trail Vancouver in that series two games to one. Vancouver could clinch the Northwest League title tonight.
Once again, defense led to Eugene’s loss. The pitching staff did not allow an earned run. In fact, the pitching only allowed three hits all night. But a pair of Emeralds’ errors led to both Vancouver runs in the fourth, the offense was not able to make up the difference.
The series isn’t over yet, though. Game Four of the series will be tonight, and if Eugene gets another excellent pitching performance they could easily tie this thing up and force a decisive Game Five. Jose Albertos, the best prospect in the farm system, will be taking the mound for Eugene.
Short Season A: Eugene Emeralds
Vancouver 2, Eugene 1
The pitching was excellent.
