According to multiple reports on Twitter, the upcoming Marlins/Brewers series, scheduled to begin this Friday at Marlins Park, will be moved to Miller Park in Milwaukee, because of Hurricane Irma.
Here’s a statement from Marlins President, David Samson, via Stefanie Gordon:

As you can see by the statement (which the Marlins have now shared on their Twitter account), the decision was made based on the desire not to burden “public service resources,” in the aftermath of the hurricane, which is understandable (though, apparently, those public service resources will be available for re-burdening as soon as Monday). Shrug.
I believe I can both understand and agree with this move, while being separately annoyed with the extra advantage the Brewers will get not only for playing in their own ballpark, but also because they will now no longer have to travel (they’re currently playing a series against the Pirates at Miller Park). Those are not huge needle-movers, of course, but they are both certainly non-zero considerations.
Separately, it’s OK to be a little annoyed with the Brewers, given the stink they threw when the Cubs moved their day game to a night game for travel reasons, but under the circumstances, I don’t feel like lingering on that (and don’t think you should either). Everybody’s number one priority is the people that live in Florida and the help they need. Everything else, including baseball, falls to the side.
In any case, that’s the news.
